Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: The PLC fails to power on after installation at the overseas site, and no indicator lights are on. What's the issue?
First, check the voltage! Most CompactLogix models use 18-32VDC, but some overseas factories mistakenly connect 110VAC directly. Check power cables and ensure the power module is fully seated. Overloading is a frequent culprit in small-scale plants with messy wiring.
Q2: The analog signal (temperature/pressure) fluctuates wildly, and the data is completely unreliable. How to fix it?
This is almost always interference. Separate analog cables from power cables, use shielded cables and ground the shield only on the PLC side. For high humidity environments, use conformal-coated analog modules.
Q3: The EtherNet/IP communication keeps dropping out, and the HMI can't connect to the PLC stably. What should I do?
Check for IP conflicts in multi-device factories. For 5380 series, don't connect both ports to the same network. In harsh environments, use industrial-grade network cables and disable unused protocols.
Q4: After replacing a faulty I/O module, the PLC reports "Slot Configuration Mismatch" and won't run. Why?
The model selected in software doesn't match the physical module. Check DIP switch settings for Flex I/O racks and set electronic keying mode to "Compatible Keying" if firmware versions differ.
Q5: The PLC crashes frequently in high-temperature environments. How to prevent this?
Install the PLC in the mid-section of the cabinet with ventilation space. Upgrade to XT series for extreme temperatures. Clean dust filters regularly and avoid mounting near heat sources.
